This Is the Official Festival Girl Hair of 2016

festival girl hair

Is your favorite indie band going on tour this summer? Before checking Songkick, your local festival lineup, or said band’s Instagram page, first, ask yourself the following questions: Does the frontwoman have a thick set of across-the-forehead bangs? Does her dark, wavy hair hang nonchalantly at her collarbone? Did you answer yes to both of these questions? Congratulations, your band is, most likely, headed to a city near you.

At least, that’s the case for Lauren Mayberry (Chvrches), Natalie Prass, Courtney Barnett, Elena Tonra (Daughter), Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee), Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes), and Patti Beranek (St. Lucia), all of whom will be gracing the lineups of festivals from New York to Somerset this summer. Differentiated by sound, eye makeup, and an affinity for red lipstick, each musician is bound together by what has become the unspoken criteria for cool-girl stage hair: the banged, wavy, brunette lob. For with-the-band authenticity at Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, and beyond, skip the flower crown, pick up the scissors, and locate a bottle of surf spray.
