When Lina Hoss appeared on the J.W.Anderson runway today, gracefully treading the length of the room in a ragged-hem skirt and swinging sculptural earrings, it flipped the switch on a full-blown obsession with the German model, after a string of similarly impressive moments in New York. Today, we were struck by the sense that our collective head-turning was due perhaps to another pop cultural phenomenon—that of Eleven, the telepathic star of Stranger Things, to whom Hoss bears an uncanny resemblance.
Of course, there’s the pale buzz cut, shaved close to the scalp to cast the chiseled cheekbones and delicate, sculpted features in sharp relief. Then there’s the mutually forceful gaze, filled with a psychokinetic energy—oozing raw power and confidence. Clearly, designer Jonathan Anderson felt it: Why else would he dress Hoss in an oatmeal-color frock that recalls Eleven’s own runaway look? Turns out, channeling a preteen psychic is a complete beauty win—nothing strange about it.
