Tom Ford’s Major Model Cast Shares the Beauty Secrets They Can’t Live Without

Grace Hartzel

Backstage tonight at Tom Ford, models, makeup artists, and hairstylists raised a glass of champagne in celebration of the designer’s return to the runway, at Manhattan’s Seagram building. The excitement was palpable—in addition to debuting his fall 2016 collection to the public, who will be able to purchase their favorite sequined, feathered, and velvet pieces online tomorrow at Tomford.com. Ford was also serving up an additional surprise: a limited-edition collection of Tom Ford makeup created especially for this collection, featuring—what else?—a smoky-eye duo and a fleshy nude lipstick that will go on sale in the morning.

“He’s always done things his own way,” said Liya Kebede, a longtime stalwart in his cast of supermodels. She was joined by friends Amber Valletta and Carolyn Murphy, the latter of whom took a moment to reminisce about her earliest Ford memories—among them, a shared love of baths. “He and I bonded over [Estée Lauder Youth-Dew] years ago. It was originally an oil for the bath—I have some of the last few bottles.” For Murphy, time has proven that nothing can beat a steaming hot soak for feeling and looking her best in a pinch. And a quick survey of fellow Ford models past and future (see: Grace Hartzel and Binx Walton) revealed that each cast member had a trusted split-second beauty regimen for a quick pick-me-up. From Vittoria Ceretti’s foolproof mascara to Amber Valletta’s trick for perfect brows, here, a guide to getting model-ready from head to toe, inside and out.

“I exfoliate every night and take showers in the morning to wake up. And I like my hair when it’s really curly. Bring on [the humidity]. Being a little bit taller than everyone else [also feels good]—[high] disco boots are good for my legs.”

Daphne Groeneveld
“After a workout, I always feel that much better: more confident, better in my body, more energetic. I like to mix it up [with] SoulCycle, or kickboxing, yoga, pilates. I train at the Dogpound—I pretty much try it all.”

Natasha Poly
“Every morning when I’m applying my moisturizer I always do a massage with my fingers, quite a lot, to make the circulation move. It’s something I started doing a long time ago and it’s just a habit. Recently I’ve been using Extraordinary Oil from L’Oréal because after flights I need a lot of hydration.”

Amber Valletta
“I think eyebrows are the symmetry of the face. If they’re not balanced and brushed up in the right way, your face looks kind of messy. [I brush up my eyebrows] even if I don’t have makeup on. I usually [shape] them myself—when you’re obsessed with it, that’s what happens.”

Vittoria Ceretti
“I moisturize my skin all the time with Giorgio Armani moisturizer which is really good for my skin and [I always] apply Dolce & Gabbana mascara—I’ve just been using it for a long time.”

Liya Kebede
“[I] take a bath. It doesn’t have to be special. Just [taking] the time to quiet down a little bit and be a bit more present is always nice, if you can.”

Carolyn Murphy
“I love taking a bath because it’s calming and relaxing, gets your circulation going, gives you good color, and there’s just something sexy about it. [Estée Lauder Youth-Dew] is this kind of sandalwood, amber, musky [oil that] I add some lavender to, and Epsom salt. It’s so heavenly. Maybe I’ll do that tonight.”

Binx Walton
“Honestly, I get my mind right. I kind of just chill and hang out with people who I like a lot and remind me of who I am and I feel better. It’s an inside thing compared to an outside thing. You’re happy.”

Lineisy Montero
“Sleep—taking rest. No phone, only my family. This is the best. That’s my vacation.”
