The release of the latest trailer for Zoolander 2 has us more excited about the movie than ever. For all of their outrageous plotlines, the Ben Stiller–helmed films manage to point out the beautiful absurdity that surrounds us, namely in the fashion industry. From the importance of moisturizing to the power of a signature walk, Zoolander cut through the celebrated behavior with a hilarious knife (see one highly memorable runway appearance in a trash-inspired cape as the face of Derelicte). Which is why nothing seems more deserving of his deadpan consideration than fragrance commercials, a category notorious for its intensely serious portrayals of the everyday. Stiller’s new 30-second segment is a dead ringer for the advertisements. Full of Twilight-worthy sultry stares, unspoken longing, mystical forest scenes (see Naomi Campbell as a pastoral, elfin queen), and one glass bottle of Zoolander No. 2 (a wink, perhaps, to Chanel’s own cultish No. 5), it may just be the greatest perfume commercial ever made.
