A nail salon is a great place for market research: For Tenoverten founders Nadine Abramcyk and Adair Ilyinsky, their first Manhattan outposts were where they noticed a dearth of long-lasting, nontoxic nail polishes in pitch-perfect shades. Not finding what they and their clients were looking for, they decided to mix a now-cultish lineup of their own. Today, Abramcyk and Ilyinsky debut an equally luxe tool for getting those thoughtfully formulated shades off: an addictive new two-in-one portable polish remover and hand cleanser.
Designed for quick touch-ups and on-the-go use, the latest launch fills yet another hard-to-find niche: a gentle, odor-free, nontoxic remover that isn’t harsh or drying, is residue-free, and can be used literally anywhere (plane, taxi, the office) thanks to its lack of noxious odor. Delivered by way of a biodegradable cloth, the polish-removing formula soothes red, dry cuticles with anti-inflammatory rosehip extract, strengthens nails with collagen-promoting horsetail leaf extract, and hydrates via aloe and vitamin E. Then, picking up where other travel cloths leave off, a soft, naturally scented cleansing hand wipe leaves hands smelling and feeling clean—not oily—with a witch-hazel-and-rosehip-based liquid.
It’s enough to make you put down that pungent bottle of acetone-based remover forever, but that’s not all. Later this month, Tenoverten will also release The Rose Oil, a slim, purse-friendly tube of cuticle-targeting essential oils. Rolling on with a spill-free precision applicator, the blend includes fatty acid–rich hempseed oil to pack ample moisture and emollient damask rose oil to smooth skin.
“In the salon, we hear a lot of people ask about what to do about their cuticles. [This] smells nice, is effective, luxurious, and all natural,” says Ilyinsky. As for the portable packaging, “You probably won’t put a glass bottle with a brush in your purse,” Abramcyk explains. “This allows you to use it regularly, which is what makes a cuticle oil more effective.” Consider your nails covered.
