Put Down the Surf Spray: Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, and More Embrace Polished Waves

Kate Moss

One of the simple joys of living in this day and age is that even a tangle of slept-in strands can make for a stellar evening look. That being said, the slightly more polished waves spotted from the front rows of the Resort collections to the streets of London this week made us long for a tactile style that you can run your fingers through.

Alexa Chung took her seat at Dior with her trademark shaggy bob falling into shiny pieces that made the case for supercharging your natural texture with a few drops of shine serum. Also spotted at the Blenheim Palace venue, Kiernan Shipka’s shoulder-grazing layers looked like they had been blown out, then pressed into soft, ladylike waves that still felt airy and unfussy, while Emma Roberts looked like she had finger-combed her loose curls and mussed them just enough with a quick nap before the show.

It’s a look that Kate Moss has taken to iconic heights, consistently treading the line between what could be a round-brush salon job or the world’s luckiest air-dry. Whatever the case, we’re tempted to trade in surf spray for a dollop of leave-in conditioner.

Above, four reasons to step into summer with a hint of made-the-effort elegance.
