The French Girl Guide to Growing Out Your Bangs: Stacy Martin Says Non to Bobby Pins

Even if you’re the kind of girl who has nerves of steel when it comes to cutting your hair, snipping a curtain across your forehead is one of those intoxicatingly risky beauty moves that requires months of patience to be undone.

Or does it? Spotted at the Tale of Tales premiere in London yesterday, Stacy Martin offered living proof that skipping the seemingly inevitable awkward stage of growing out your bangs is as simple as starting with the right set in the first place. Since trading in her long waves for a chin-length bob last year, the Franco-English actress has steadily grown out her eyelash-skimming fringe without so much as a bobby pin or a transitional face-framing braid, thanks to a tapered cut that looks as good falling into her eyes as it does split down the middle—all the while blending seamlessly into the rest of her hair. Even better, she’s just millimeters away from being able to tuck the outer layers behind her ears—at which point we wouldn’t be surprised if she goes for another radical chop.
