If the past month of Phil Oh’s street style beauty shots could be summed up in a feeling, “a moment of authenticity” may best describe the aesthetic amongst showgoers snapped on their way from New York to Paris.
A sea of neon lips, maybe-she’s-born-with-it curls, fluorescent eyeliner, and Kool-Aid-hued dye jobs updated the idea of Instagram-friendly sameness. A clever pop of color is a must, gel made a triumphant return, and, even, a bad bang trim passes as a perfectly imperfect when the new of now is about embracing all things idiosyncratic.
Case in point: One glimpse at Miranda July’s acid-red-lipped New York City stroll in a blush lace Rodarte jumpsuit, or Saint Laurent muse Lili Sumner’s bleached-out rockabilly bangs on the streets of Paris is all it takes to see that the next beauty wave is riding on an inclusive (real-life flaws, included) attitude. Clearly, street style beauty at its best.
