The simple knot may be a cornerstone of the pared-down aesthetic that has come to define this decade, but its popularity comes down to its endless potential for a personal twist.

One new take on fashion’s favorite hair upgrade: Taylor Hill’s topknot in West Hollywood last night, which was finished with a bandana headband and a few face-framing wisps. The style took on a ’50s-by-way-of-’80s vibe thanks to Hill’s high-waisted jeans and black satin bomber jacket, and, of course, those thick, brushed-up brows—but still felt perfectly of-the-moment due to her modern beauty statement: fresh, glowing skin and a next-to-nothing lip stain.
