How Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ciara, and More Guarantee an Instant Good Hair Day

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Whether your current coordinates have you facing an icy nor’easter or El Niño showers, one thing is certain: This winter’s fickle weather is hardly the stuff of good hair days. Perhaps that’s why we’ve been seeing a return to a summer favorite: slick hair.

Rather than craft her long bob into signature bombshell waves, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended an Opening Ceremony dinner party in Los Angeles last night with her hair smoothed into a shiny bun. It’s a minimalist look that also inspired the actress to take an evening off from her usual tawny nude makeup in favor of a crisp red mouth.

Also embracing the clean cool of a razor-sharp side part, Rooney Mara walked the BAFTA Tea Party red carpet with a sleek, low ponytail that made for a simple daytime counterpart to the sculptural updos the Carol star has recently donned at her premieres.

But leave it to Ciara to show that a few drops of hair oil and a flick of a fine-tooth comb are just as effective an upgrade when you’re catching a flight as they are when you’re sitting front row at Fashion Week.

Above, three unfailingly chic shortcuts to a stellar hair situation.
