Soko Takes a Daring Beauty Risk at Giambattista Valli

It’s hard to imagine that a poster girl for all things weird and wonderful like Soko would be caught dead in an embroidered tulle confection—but such is the magic of Giambattista Valli, whose front row this morning saw the French singer taking her heart-embellished alabaster gown into a fresh direction that felt equally gothic and whimsical.

Her lids treated to a haze of deep pink and hot coral eyeshadow and paired with a tone-on-tone dab of matte pigment pressed into the center of the lips, Soko’s makeup was befitting a silent-screen heroine—and artfully subverted the ladylike appeal of a thoughtfully calibrated color palette. Here’s to ringing in the cooler season beauty with a few beauty risks of your own.
