With summertime nearing its last lap, beachside selfies, sea-level endeavors, and general blue-sky frivolity have taken over our Instagram feeds. Photographer Laurie Simmons shared a snap of a fellow sand-seeker, blanched lengths blowing in the summer breeze, while, elsewhere, Daria Strokous protected her complexion with an oversize straw hat during a trip to Porto Cervo. Rihanna opted for the more traditional hand-to-brow sun-shielding technique, although additional accessories—a colorful headscarf, teal-coated nails, and endless body chains and bracelets—abounded. The sea’s surface found model Behati Prinsloo and actress Brie Larson striking poses in hip-hanging inner tubes. Back on dry land, Natalia Vodianova and Entourage’s Adrian Grenier showed us the ropes at Venice Beach, climbing to great lengths in support of the Special Olympics. But perhaps it was Georgia May Jagger who best captured the season’s sense of whimsy by adding a spectrum of prismatic pastel streaks to her sunny blonde hair that conjured the vacation spirit. White sand not required.
