Salma Hayek embraced a bit of body on the city streets, her shiny hair wound in a bouncy collective of shoulder-grazing twists. And Zendaya, Jessica Chastain, and Elle Fanning opted for the easy, in-between finish of air-dried waves.
Updos were just as varied, with raked-back buns ranging from glamorous to casual. If Gemma Arterton’s artful updo, navy blue eyeliner, and emerald drop earrings rendered her red carpet–ready in London, Gwen Stefani’s fuzzy platinum topknot and red lip were the perfect daytime counterpart. But for a style that will translate seamlessly into autumn, Kendall Jenner’s slicked-back low bun is just as chic as an off-the-neck style for beach days as it will be for apple orchard afternoons come fall.
