A Statement Eye for Every Occasion: The Graphic Beauty Looks of Fall 2015

Photographed by Kevin Tachman

For the lover of a statement eye, the fall 2015 runways have provided no shortage of options. Painted in shades of cobalt, emerald, black, and white, the looks came in every shape and texture. New York saw inky pigment smudged onto the inner corners of models’ eyes at Proenza Schouler, where days before it had been painstakingly drawn onto the outer edges at Suno. In Milan, eyeliner was taken to new extremes—unapologetically smoldering along the top and bottom waterlines at Versace topped by Pat McGrath’ s “massive” amounts of mascara, and daubed on in “rough brushstrokes” that mimicked eyelashes by Peter Philips at Fendi. Judging by the collections we’ve seen so far, Paris shows no signs of slowing down—at two of the city’s most directional shows, Dior and Céline, color-blocked arches of opaque eye shadow accompanied the animal prints and fur accessories we’ll undoubtedly be snapping up in September.
