With the Indian summer that’s been sweeping the East Coast taking a dip to still relatively balmy temperatures, we’ve arrived at autumn’s sweet spot: crisp, jacket-optional sweater weather—topped by styled-by-the breeze waves and fuzzy flyaways.

Spotted on a bike ride through Brooklyn, Keri Russell paired a nubby knit with hair that fell into windswept pieces, and Sarah Jessica Parker dropped off her twins at school with her textured lengths tucked under a fedora. Also in town, Kate Hudson found a perfect pairing in an off-the-shoulder top and a bendy, second-day blowout, while over in L.A., Elle Fanning was a study in bohemian minimalism, offsetting her baby-blonde hair with a black sweater and a felt topper. But it was Keira Knightley who made our hearts sing, with her electrified strands spilling over an oversize turtleneck while running errands with her daughter, Edie.

Just in time for a weekend stroll, five reasons to ditch the frizz serum and let nature take its course.
