Choosing a serious anti-aging skin-care treatment can be overwhelming: There’s the fear factor (razors, needles, lasers), and then there’s the sheer number of strange new methods that continue to pop up (vampire face-lift, anyone?). Now, however, a new wave of super-strength products is making a surgery-free pick-me-up more approachable—by copping many of the relaxing methods used in your favorite spa.
From masks to muds to massage, this group of lifting remedies is more soothing than scary. Some are appealingly futuristic: Los Angeles superfacialist Kate Somerville has replicated a treatment from her clinics that bottles up oxygen and retinol and delivers it via a sleek pump, while Estée Lauder’s Expert Liquid Tape is dispensed from its nozzle with an on-off toggle. The polymer serum temporarily lifts and smooths much like a laser might—no zapping necessary—and also tightens over time. And for a nature-derived option, By Terry’s new LiftEssence products sculpt and shape skin with the essence of ruby rose native cells.
Other at-home treatments are more hands-on. Dr. Jart+’s new Liftra three-step face contouring kit works with motion instead of makeup: The set’s germanium ball massager stimulates muscles beneath the skin for a firming effect. And Chanel’s Le Lift Masque de Massage combines firming neroli extract with a specialized massage method that promotes elasticity (detailed instructions included).
While they may not provide the same degree of results as more invasive procedures from your dermatologist or aesthetician, these products prove a little lift doesn’t have to be strenuous—and make for an ideal excuse for a cold-weather beauty staycation this winter.
