Erykah Badu, Vanessa Traina, and More Stylists With a Signature Beauty Look

Next week, Erykah Badu will throw her oversize hat into the ring as a stylist when she helps dress models for Pyer Moss’s Fall 2016 collection. With the singer’s penchant for eccentric layering and unexpected shapes, it’s really a wonder it took so long. Badu joins a league of sought-after stylists whose personal dress is a kind of calling card for their work. From imaginative braids to makeup-free skin, their signature looks are not relegated to the neck down. For the world’s most stylish women by profession, a particular shade of lipstick, a textural haircut, or an off-center part are all equally important factors in the equation of personal style.

Take Parisian Azza Yousif, for example, whose chromatic lipstick and color-coordinating sweaters and scarves speak to an inherent understanding of patterns and pigments, while Los Angeles–based Karla Welch’s grown-out pixie and bold red lip bring a bit of garçon chic to her celebrity clients. Vanessa Traina is a fan of androgynous clean lines, from her Protagonist pants to her straight-as-bone hair and clean complexion. And the laissez-faire appeal of Natasha Goldenberg’s sun-kissed skin and beachy waves find their sartorial match in her fondness for off-the-shoulder tops and roomy, flowing skirts. Here, a look at five stylists whose beauty looks are all their own.
