At the Milk Studios industrial loft space today, designer Rio Uribe presented his first collection since his big CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund win, and amid the ’70s-inflected bell-bottoms and split corduroy skirts on the runway was a whimsical series of Warhol-bright mouths. Painted with a precise hand by backstage makeup artist Erin Parsons using Maybelline’s Color Jolt Lip Paint and a slick of gloss, the lacquered pouts popped in fire-engine red and bright blue (a shade that couldn’t help but call to mind the signature lip color of artist Juliana Huxtable). Those same vibrant shades carried over to some models’ lids, too, resulting in a high-impact beauty proposal that took the statement lip to the next level—and, best of all, brought a heady dose of color and fun to Fashion Week.
