Victoria’s Secret released a Valentine’s Day commercial this week in which a cast of five Angels plays football. Titled “Score More,” the spot features Taylor Hill and Elsa Hosk holding position on the 50-yard line with teammates Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Jasmine Tookes. The models hike, run, pass, and score a winning touchdown with athletic prowess. If it looks realistic, it should. “Professional female football players taught us drills and a fold-out of a play,” says Hill, who was shocked to find out she’d be taking the field the day of the shoot. The Denver-raised model, who will be rooting for her hometown Broncos during this Sunday’s Super Bowl, admits that while she’s a fan of the sport, “I’ve never played serious football—just flag football in school PE class and for fun. I’ve never touched a uniform in my life!”
Never mind Hill’s lack of experience: The former gymnast and current CrossFit and yoga devotee completed catches and leapt over players with astounding speed and strength. Body doubles were on hand for any choreography deemed too dangerous or complicated, but that didn’t keep Hosk from garnering her fair share of bruises. To score the winning touchdown, she says, “I had to throw myself on the ground so many times,” but even so, the boxing- and barre-sculpted model admits that leaping into the end zone “felt amazing.”
If Hosk was MVP, then Lima was unofficial head cheerleader, taking it upon herself to keep the energy high. “She’s amazing—she was screaming and kept us on our toes all day. I don’t think we would have had as much fun without her,” remembers Hill. But the best part of the experience, according to Hosk? “Doing the touchdown dances!” Spoken like a true team player.
