This morning in London both Preen and Mary Katrantzou sent out their Fall 2016 collections of printed dresses and graphic jackets topped by the It Brit’s favorite hair accessory: the everyday hair scarf. For Preen’s Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, thick black sculptural fabrics were tied around the neck and wrapped around the crown over a fuzzy bed-rumpled texture. Paired with Val Garland’s smoldering, full rimming of black eyeliner, the black cloths were a simple and playful solution to leaning into slept in hair and makeup.
For Katrantzou, a delicate square piece of silk served to fully cover slick, center parted lengths, a look one would imagine would be just as practical for protecting your blowout from London’s famously inclement weather as it would be glamorous for a convertible ride to the Cotswolds. The takeaway? Whether you’re expecting rainy days ahead or looking for a few more hours to lie in bed before brunch, ditch the umbrella, brush, and dry shampoo: A high-impact hair scarf is beauty’s best ticket.
