Gwyneth Paltrow’s Guide to Glowing Skin

Gwyneth Paltrow has had a breakneck day. In the midst of launching her first fragrance, an all-natural blend called Goop Fragrance Edition 01, she’s fielding back-to-back interviews before heading to a party. But leave it to the actress–cum–wellness guru to sneak in a moment of well-deserved Zen. Sauntering barefoot into her sun-soaked Manhattan bathroom, she pauses to wash the day away and press reset on her energy and look. “It’s my end-of-office-day routine into evening.”

First comes a dollop of oil cleanser straight onto her skin, which she calls “a miracle for removing makeup,” a process that’s completed with the help of a warmed washcloth. But her pro tip for maintaining “fresh, young-looking skin” is exfoliating every single day with an alpha and beta hydroxy acid mask that she leaves on until it tingles. A lymphatic drainage massage performed with a grape-seed-oil-fueled serum gives an antioxidant kick to a manual circulation boost. And with skin this dewy, all that’s left to do are a few light touch-ups via swipes of concealer beneath the eyes and on the chin to camouflage any sign of fatigue without hiding her complexion. “I believe in freckles,” she says matter-of-factly. A blend of peach blush over a swirl of cream bronzer telegraphs a convincing sun-kissed effect. And with an eye-opening swipe of mascara and a pass of her beloved kick-ass red lipstick—this one by Kosås, which Paltrow adores for its ability to pack a punch of pigment while remaining entirely paraben-, phthalate-, and sulfate-free—her look is complete. Misting her new smoky frankincense and cypress fragrance in the air, she inhales and says, “It smells like a library.” Ready to go in a matter of minutes? The mark of a smart woman.
