This Cult French Fragrance House Has Your Summer Scent Game Sorted

Fans of Astier de Villatte—the artisanal, ultrachic home line from Parisian designers Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte—are familiar with the brand’s artfully crafted ceramics, cutlery, glassware, and scented candles that smell like the very places for which they’re named. This week, a noteworthy addition to the company’s fragrance lineup arrives stateside: It took three years to revamp, rebrand, and repackage in handblown glass bottles, but devotees can finally snap up the company’s cultish perfumes without having to hop on a flight to France. “We received our fair share of anxious emails from loyal clients asking for more Eau Chic,” the duo tells Vogue in an email.

Now, not only can those clients rediscover four of the brand’s archival colognes—Cologne 1871, Eau Chic, Eau de Cologne, and Eau Fugace (all of which have been off the market since 2013)—but new to the roster are three scents with globe-trotting notes to sweeten your summer. Brazil’s lush landscape inspired Splash, a sweet sensation of bitter orange mixed with a woody blend of bergamot, cedar, and oak moss plus a few spicy notes. Grand Chalet pays homage to French-Polish artist Balthus, recalling his favorite scents of linden flowers, honey, and milk with citrus hints of lemon and lime, while Elixir du Dr. Flair is a dreamed-up version of an ancient and forgotten medicinal potion with warm and earthy concentrates like wormwood, clove, and fresh lavender.

As Pericoli and Astier de Villatte put it: “Scent should make a person dream and travel through time—and above all, should smell divine.” Mission accomplished.
