Fearing the Return of the Flat Iron? Ciara, Rihanna, and More Shake Out Their Signature Waves

Rihanna

If the return of flat-ironed hair seems too high-maintenance to handle, take heart: It appears that ocean-inspired waves have crept into October. Ciara celebrated her new role as the face of Revlon with a mane of soft golden ringlets parted in the middle and left to fall in statement-making 1970s fashion, a style modernized by way of a thick, black choker and smoky metallic lids. Stella Maxwell took a more laid-back approach to the textural style, her air-dried lengths blowing casually in the breeze in a sunny blonde shade that offered an effortless backdrop to the model’s oversize clubmaster shades and pink pout—not to mention her crop top–ready abs.

But leave it Rihanna to serve up two spot-on takes on transitional hair. The singer-designer traded her down-to-there dreadlocks for a brushed-out mane worn thrown to one side. By day, RiRi paired the style with a few glitzy accessories and a wash of bronze eyeshadow—a look traded come nightfall for a set of oversize hoops and a matte cherry-red lip. Still not ready to say goodbye to summer? Just keep riding the wave.
