Taking Beauty Cues from the 2015 Pre-Fall Collections: 5 Hair Looks to Try Now

Alexander Wang pre-fall 2015

The most exciting beauty looks yet from the 2015 pre-fall collections were all about subverting hair expectations. At Lanvin, a heavy curtain of bangs fell over models’ foreheads, challenging the notion that it’s best to ease into full fringe in gradual increments. Two hair states typically associated with needing a quick fix—languid, no-volume strands and extreme roots—were reimagined as winning beauty statements: Alexander Wang models wore their hair slicked flat against the crown, conjuring an everyday ease that made us reconsider our next blowout; at Giambattista Valli, a panel of bright orange pigment was painted on along the part, gradually giving way to each girl’s natural color at the ends. Meanwhile, Kenzo showed rave-era bantu knots landscaping the top of models’ heads, and Valentino presented cornrows that reminded us of FKA twigss “Pendulum” video, in which the musician is suspended by her hallmark braids alone. We think she’d look beautiful in one of those dresses, too.
