Festival girl hair may have undergone a make-under at Coachella, but the week’s best beauty looks were dripping in made-the-effort glamour.
It’s hard to imagine Rosie Huntington-Whiteley out-bombshelling her signature supermodel blowout, yet there she was on a Saturday night with a head of springy disco ringlets and glittering lids that sparkled as much as her paillette dress. Jazz prodigy Esperanza Spalding also embraced bigger-is-better hair, while Solange Knowles made us do a double take with her signature cloud of curls smoothed into a sleek ponytail.
Of course, none of these bold statements required any real commitment like, say, a radical dye job. Which might explain why Taylor Swift revisited her classic pairing of a ladylike bob and crisp crimson mouth one last time before taking the peroxide plunge. But it was Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava, who showed what a shocking dye job can do for breaking out of a beauty rut: The former Hollywood blonde assumed a bold new identity with one single wash of Coachella-approved pink. Now how’s that for instant festival girl spirit?
