Alessandra Ambrosio Reveals Her New Boho Body Art Line and Coachella Beauty Secrets

“Guns N’ Roses, definitely—I think they’re going to put on a great show!” says Alessandra Ambrosio, of the band she can’t wait to see at Coachella this weekend. Calling from her Los Angeles home, between appointments and playdates with her kids, the Victoria’s Secret Angel is gearing up for what may be a record 13th trip to Indio—a milestone made all the more special by her new festival-ready line of temporary tattoos, which launches tomorrow.

“I’ve always loved body art,” Ambrosio says. “I wear it all summer in Brazil and across Europe, and to music festivals—whenever my skin is exposed, I want something fun on my body.” Working with a Brazilian graphic designer—who happens to double as her yoga teacher—the model crafted three metallic collections: rose gold and silver feathers and frangipani flowers, to be traced down the spine or wrapped around the wrist. “I like to wear them underneath the hair, and I love wearing the feathers falling down my back,” Ambrosio adds, as a quick tip. Here, ahead of Coachella’s first weekend, she reveals the rest of her festival beauty secrets, from her minimal makeup bag to the best way to stay dewy in the desert.

On Her First Coachella
“It was 12 years ago that I went for the first time, when Radiohead and the Cure were playing! I’ve been going every year, and I love it. I love the vibe, I love the place—it’s nice and warm and clean and fun. I like indie rock and classic rock, and Coachella is the perfect place for that. Coachella is definitely my thing for now, but you never know—I might end up at Burning Man one day!”

On Her Festival Wellness Plan
“I always make sure to keep hydrated in the desert. I drink a lot of juice, green juice, and coconut water. There’s actually a place at the festival that sells coconuts, which is great, so I keep drinking the coconut all the time.”

On Her Desert Skin-Care Secrets
“For Coachella, I always make sure to use SPF. Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer is very hydrating, and it makes me nice and glow-y—it’s really yummy on the skin. Because the desert is so dry, I like a hydrating cream. Beautycounter Rejuvenating Night Cream smells amazing, and I use it day and night.”

On Her Minimal Makeup
“For beauty, I keep it very minimal with a little creamy blush. I really like Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Stick: There’s a pink one and a peach shimmer that I like to mix together. That’s my go-to, and I can even put it on my lips, if I want, or a little on my eyes as a creamy shadow with shimmer.”

On Her Laid-Back Boho Hair
“I like to do little braids in my hair, and I’m always wearing a hat, which makes it super convenient. I have the perfect hat for Coachella with feathers on it—because you’re walking in the sun the whole day, it’s nice to protect your face, and it’s a cool extra accessory.”

On Her One Festival Beauty Splurge
“I love doing my nails—that’s one thing I like to do as a festival beauty thing. I like to have fun with my nails. I’ve done stickers, I’ve done glitter, I’ve done ombré. Last year, I put little gold metal stickers on white nails, the year before I did the Coachella stickers.  I’m always looking for the trends for fun festival nails.”
